Pet Peeve's - #1 & #2

Pet Peeve #1 - Smoking in the Vehicle with Kids

I seen a car earlier with 3 little kids in the back seat (ages 2-7, aAlign Centerpprox.). In the driver seat was the mom (or at least I think she was the mom) smoking a cigarette, with the window cracked about an inch.

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS MOTHER THINKING???

I just wanted to get out of my car, walk over to her and yank her out and give her a beat down for put intoxicants into her children.

I think it should be ILLEGAL to smoke in a car with minors!!

Pet Peeve #2 - Tanning in General

I just read on facebook about one of my old high school friends starting to go to the tanning salon. I can't believe that she's so insecure about herself that she thinks she needs to be tanning. I wanted to write something about it on her post, but I've restrained myself and am venting here on this post. This is what I wanted to tell her:

"Can't believe that you're so insecure about yourself that you think you need a tan......I love my pale skin, because I know that when I am 50 years old that I'll still look great and when you're 50 years old that you'll like you're 90....well good luck with your tanning sessions, and here's to skin cancer!"

I little glow looks nice, but it most be natural. I cannot stand people who tan to the point that you mistake them for a mixed race.

You should be proud of the skin color the God gave you!

Being Realistic

As most of you know, when I started blogging it start out about my family, and then took a turn towards what I'm currently sewing. Well, I finally decided to update my blog layout to reflect what seems to be closer to my everyday life......Besides my sewing corner being chaotic looking, so it the rest of my life.....but i think anyone with small children and pets in the house will say the same thing. So here's to my new blog layout!

Nephew #4 Basted

I have nephew #4's quilt basted, which I just finished minutes ago....here is what the back looks like....

Last week I worked on the half square triangles, which I used the same method that Rachel of p.s. i quilt posted earlier today. Haven't thought about how big I'm going to make the quilt yet. I'm using a layer cake of Santorini cut down to 5" charms (also used this layer cake to make the birdies that I haven't finished yet...they're for Easter).

Also, on Monday, since it was President's Day & I didn't have to work, I started another quilt, which is going to be for my Aunt Fay....so here is a sneak peak.....

Quilt Top FOr Nephew #4

Finished the quilt top for one of my soon-to-be-born nephews....it is suppose to 6 columns across and 10 rows down, but I stopped at 8 rows.....the last 2 I'm going to incorporate in the back.

Now I need to get started on laying out the back.....I'm hoping that by the end of next Sunday, I'll have it basted......and I'm hoping by the Sunday after next that I'll have the quilt completely finished.

String Quilt Top

Remember when I show you all a little tutorial on my string block......well, I forgot to posted a good picture this quilt top.

Sultry Quilt Top

You might remember when I posted something about this......well, I never posted a good picture of the "Sultry Quilt" that has been in working progress.....still is in working progress, but I'll give you a sneak peak of what I've got done so far.

Been Busy

I've been busy this week...

working on the quilt for the nephews who not yet arrived...blocks are finished...half the rows sewn...and several of the rows joined...I believe I can get at least on the quilt tops finished by tomorrow night (especially since I do NOT care for football at all....I can't even follow it, so never know when to yell or shout for excitement.....but it doesn't matter, because I don't even have a favorite team).

keep reading my book "The Stolen Child"...out of 34 chapters only 10 more to go!

oh and the regular stuff, like taking care of the kids...making sure they're fed, bathed, etc....normal cleaning stuff....and work of course.
