Can you believe it?!?! I've been quilting/sewing for a year now.
Can you believe it?!?! I've been quilting/sewing for a year now.
The very first quilt that I made was for my oldest son Alex, who is now 4 years old (and he loves it...carries the quilt everywhere with him). I have to admit that the quilt isn't the best looking, a lot of the rows do not line up properly, but again, my first quilt. And the first technique that I learned was the "half square triangle" that Rachel (p.s. i quilt) taught all of us for the Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along.
Another reason that the quilt may not look as great, is the fact that I didn't have a cutting mat or rotary cutter! That's right people....I used a good ol' yard stick and a pencil to measure out & cut my material, which by the way I do NOT recommend, and a pair of old scissors that we use for everyday cutting in the house, which i also do not recommend. I have to say I have come a long way...when you are going to sew on a regular basis, investing in some good tools is worth it, even if you have to invest in one thing at a time.
As you all can see I have come a long way in just a years time. I've finished 15 quilts and 7 projects. I also have 4 quilt tops done and numerous other projects started.
So, in honor of my one year quilting/sewing quest, I have decided to do a little giveaway. I thought you might like the sound of that.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 211 of 211My Dad got an old clunker sewing machine somewhere that I got to play with (probably to keep me out of my mom's hair) one summer. I must've been 7 or 8. I made shorts for my cousins. :-)
congratulation on your first anniversary. I am a follower.
Now that I found you, I'm following you too! Thanks for the chances! :-)
first quilt... on a camping trip to cannon beach, oregon i entered my first quilt shop. i have been a sewer since i was a kid, my mom taught me and i used to sew an outfit each year for 4H but never sewed a quilt. i was obsessed from the first step into the shop. i bought fat quarters of the most fabulous fabric i had ever seen or felt. i bought a quilt pattern too. it was called something like "wonky blocks" i made the quilt and i love it! just a lap size quilt and i had no idea how to bind it so that is kind of a mess but i still love that fabric. it is hanging on the wall above my sewing machine.

favorite quilt shop = center diamond quilt shop in cannon beach, oregon. reasons why... #1 if you are there, you are in cannon beach. #2 best fabric and the shop is so darn cute.
My first sewing project was with my mother. She help me make kitchen curtains for my 1st house. Sadly the people that bought the house from me, loved the curtains so much that they wanted them included in the deal. All I have left are the pictures.
I'm now following your blog.
My favorite fabric shop's are on-line. They offer the best selection.
My first quilt was a mint/white striped with a lamb panel quilt for my first child. He's 20 yrs old now and I hope to give it to him for his posterity. :)
I just found your blog - great! I'm now a follower! :)
My fave online fabric shop is Fat Quarter Shop. What a selection and reasonable prices/shipping. Just not enough money to buy all I like or enough time to make all that I want to!
