it's been several years since i have posted any updates...

no, i haven't stopped sewing...yes, life has been hectic the past 5 years....with that said here's what I've been working on...

i'm currently taking a BOM class at my local quilt shop, The Quilt Shoppe...we are using Vintage Quilt Revival: 22 Modern Designs from Classic Block. i'm using a FQ bundle of Meadowbloom by April Rosenthal for Moda.

now i know what you're thinking...it's only the beginning of july (class is tomorrow) and that I already have the blocks done.

well......i had to or i'd never get the blocks done in time. you see, i'm preparing myself to go back to work...i should be receiving my call back any day now and when i do go back to work, i'll be working 7 days/week, with 12 hour shifts until January/February 2017.

anyway....
there are several layout options in the book to finish the quilt. i already know what i'm going to do, but i'll leave that as a surprise for now, since i still have classes to go to and show off my individual blocks.

now for some fun.....
with this being the my return post i thought what a better way to celebrate than with a GIVEAWAY...$15.00 worth of fabric/books from my etsy shop.

To Enter: Go to my etsy shop and look around...lots of fabric for sale...a lot of de-stash material at a really great price. Then leave a comment below to be entered....I'll be keeping this giveaway open until 8:00p EST Friday, July 15, 2016. Once the winner is selected, I'll e-mail the person and you can let me know what you'd like from my shop. You can select up to $15.00 worth, plus free shipping. If you would like something that is worth more than $15.00, then I can setup a custom order for you. You can get a second entry for sharing this with your friends and family. Yummy Candy Dish Pillows

Candy Dish Pillows...pattern by Julie of Jaybird Quilts

I used a charm pack of
Notting Hill by Joel Dewberry for Free Spirit fabrics,
plus some cooridnating solids.

I just love how they turned out....i really can't wait to make some more!!
and using the Hex N' More ruler was so easy!!

for the most part i separated the charm pack by color-way
Pinks and Oranges

Red, Teal, and Gold

 And Green and Teals...
all four of these pillows were made for the Quilt Shoppe, but i love them so much that i bought the materials to make them again for myself...they are going to look great in my bedroom!!

Busy Summer....and Twin Stars

No, I haven't been ignoring my blog...

I've been busy with coaching my son's t-ball team...we had so much fun the past 2 months!

A lot of nights spent at the ball fields watching my niece and nephews...they all did good this year!

And i've also been very busy at the shop...working on lots of quilts!
Here is one of the latest quilts that is completely finished...

or
"Twin Stars Quilt 'Just One Jelly Roll' Pattern" by Pam & Nicky Lintott...this is the individual pattern that you can find at your local quilt shop.

I just love the colors...i used the book as a guide for the colors and picked out fabrics at the shoppe that i work at...most are moda with a few benartex fabrics.
Believe it or not, both blocks are the same...depending on how you piece it together, depends on the final look of the block.
And the awesome news is this quilt is hanging up at the shoppe for all to see...and that kits are available for it as well...if you're interested just let me know...either leave a comment or email me! :)
I just love the long arm quilting that Jodi did on this...she always seems to pick out the perfect design!

Meadowsweet Ticker Tape Method

Do you recall the left over baby triangles from Meadowsweet Quilt?!?

Well, i started making a quilt using the ticker tape method by Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts. I remember seeing this for the first time when she blogged about it back in September 2009.

I used some leftover Kona solid that I had in my stash...boy was i happy to use some of this up, but i still have a ton left in the stash!

For just winging this quilt, i think i did i pretty awesome job!
There was no marking on the background material to help line things up...i eyeballed the whole thing for placement which is why some are close together and others not soo much.

I used a bella solid for backing to help high light all the different colors that i used on quilting it.
Even though i used a walking foot, i still got some pulling on the back...but to be quite honest, i quilted it in a huge hurry...the whole is a huge mess, but that is the look I went for and it turned out great.

Dancing in the WInd and then some...

When the shop got in new quilt patterns, i just couldn't help myself but to get started right away on Dancing in the Wind by Prairie Grass Patterns...and it didn't help that we got in some jelly rolls of Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket for Moda.
I got started right away on it.
Ooooohhhhhh...I think I'm love with this quilt!

For those of you who are wondering....YES...this quilt was quilted by Jodi Apple in Slyvania, OH
She does such beautiful work...i got the quilt back last Thursday and when i seen it on the table at the shop i started jumping up and down with extreme joy...you might have thought i was 6 years old in a candy shop for the first time!

And since I didn't use up all the strips, i also made this little dandy...

Gotta LOVE the simplicity of the postage stamp quilt...this pattern is so easy to put together!

I used Fandango by Kate Spain for Moda as backing and binding, since we still have some in the shop and I've been dying to use this material for something....i think it makes really great backing for this crib size quilt!

And since this is a smaller quilt, i went ahead and quilted it myself with a simple corner to corner straight line stitching....you can't see it very well in the pictures, but on the top i use colored threaded and for the bottom i used a cream color...it turned out GREAT!!

NOW what to do with the left over baby triangles from the pinwheel quilt.....if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Dig Those Crazy Cats

This is the first quilt that I have not quilted myself...and it looks amazing!

Jodi Apple from Sylvania, OH did the long arm quilting for me, since this quilt is also for the shop.

Stars in the Strawberry Fields

I'm so in love with quilt!!

Used 2 charm packs of Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree & Co. for Moda and Bella Solid (not sure of the exact color, besides cream...forgot to write it down and we ran out of it the shop...opps!)

I did the quilting on it myself...straight line stitching with a little free motion thrown in!

I just love how it turned out....the quilt measures roughly 36" x 36".

The quilt is currently hanging up at the shop!!
